China Tightens Export Rules for Used Cars Starting January 2026

China The official announcement No. 648has introduced new strict regulations for the export of light vehicles starting from January 1, 2026.“Fake used” vehicle ban

🔹 Vehicles registered for less than 180 days (6 months) are prohibited from being exported as “used” — this stops the main way of falsely declaring new vehicles as used.

🔹 Official confirmation from the manufacturer: Exporters must provide a document certified with the official seal of the manufacturer, including service, parts supply, and contact information in the destination country for exporting their products. Export permits will not be issued without this document.not issued.

🔹 Transition period: Vehicles documented for export before January 1, 2026, will be allowed to be exported within the transition period.

These measures aim to stop illegal practices, enhance the reliability of Chinese vehicle exports, and ensure transparency for global trade partners.
